TT SUbD 2.1.4 For Sketchup
If you press down on the subdivision plane, you get a tool that allows you to adjust the strength of the wrinkle. Ive seen some users say it doesnt work at all on their system. Its possible there are some system settings that are preventing its effective operation. Pressing down the left mouse button and dragging it while pressed down enables you to adjust the subdivision. If you move the mouse while keeping the mouse button pressed down, you can drag the subdivided geometry.
If you want the visual effect of a single face having two or more individual faces, you can subdivide the quad face.

Most people use a resolution of 0.25-0.50 for SUbD files. If you are familiar with the way SUbD works, you understand that the more levels your file has, the more detailed your model will become. This is because the more levels you have, the more nodes you have to create for your model. In the video tutorial, we will be using a resolution of 0.25. This will create a smoother model. In the tutorial, I will use a specific sketchup file. Thats because I believe that my main goals in this tutorial are to show people how to create more organic models, so I will use a file that has a lot of details. I will use the example of making a small room in my home.
With all that said, its important to understand that while most people use a resolution of 0.25-0.50, thats not the only way to use SubD. You can use any number, including 2.5, 8.0, 32.0, etc… However, depending on the case, you may want to use a resolution greater than 0.50. If so, its very important that you understand what the file format is before trying to use anything with SubD. If you have the SUbD file with a resolution of 0.50, you can use it in the SUbD for Sketchup tutorial (or anything else).
This tutorial is meant to cover the basics of working with SubDivide in SketchUp. You do not need to understand how to work with SubD files. Its like trying to explain how to use a foreign language without having a firm grasp on how to speak the language.
