Pdf Mega Goal 1 Student Book
cni is the next step in our strategy to maintain longwoods connection to the community and in doing so to the nation. our community-focused reputation has made longwood a leader in developing and promoting a vibrant, eco-friendly campus. in addition to environmental justice, the institute has promoted campus health and wellness initiatives, which have helped us attain a 100 percent on-time graduation rate. cni provides another opportunity to increase the connection between longwood and its students and the communities it serves.
lowering student debt, graduation with less than $25,000 in debt, 10 percent of longwoods alumni serving as a starter professor, and our students teaching their colleagues have all been priorities in the past. i am grateful to the generosity of those who have been instrumental in making these initiatives successful over the years. in the next decade, it is imperative that we remain committed to the students and are responsive to the communities we serve. in making this happen, we must not lose sight of our core purpose as one of the nation s great liberal arts universities.
your goal in this class is to do what you do best: to tell stories. you will write a story from which you may choose up to one of three forms: a novel, a short story collection or a continuous stream of stories. you’ll write a minimum of three pieces and each piece will be substantially different from the others (in length, form, content and structure). you will learn how to craft your stories, how to work with a variety of narrative forms, and how to establish a clear, consistent voice in each piece. you will also learn how to work from sources that range from everyday life to the classics to your own imagination. as you craft your work you will notice that all of these forms share certain characteristics, but don’t judge them. we will discuss that one of the most difficult parts of writing is learning to write whatever the story demands, regardless of whether it is a “good” story, a “good” authorial voice or a “good” plot. we will therefore learn how to write with a concept that is dear to us: le mot juste.
to study word documents: you can have your students research and annotate either word or pdf documents. this product type can be converted to a “pdf document” using your word processor, and then converted back to the original word processor document with the create outline list feature.
we are dedicated to the belief that every generation should live in a sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive world. to this end, we are working with our campus and community partners to redesign our academic programs and engage with our students in ways that are relevant to their current lives and preparing them for a changing global workplace.
our first purpose is the achievement of high quality, excellence, and empowerment (hqee) so that longwood remains one of the most respected and sought after universities in the world. secondly, we endeavor to make a difference in the lives of our alumni, faculty, and staff. being a small liberal arts college for generations has allowed us to develop deep relationships with our alumni, allowing us to learn from them while ensuring that longwood remains distinctive and relevant in the marketplace. our third and final purpose is to educate and serve students of all backgrounds as they aspire to a different and better world.
most of you already know how connected you are to a larger world. the internet, the smartphone, and social media allow you to easily share anything with anyone, regardless of time or geography. thats why, earlier this fall, we launched the cloud nothings initiative. cni is longwoods own network of digital resources, anchored by the cloud nothings journalism lab, which are designed to foster student interest in bringing about systemic change in the way we live and work.
