It supports an easy batch thumbnail generation for large amounts of videos.
With Movie Thumbnailer, you can generate previews for videos stored on your computer, in batch. The system displays a taskbar icon that can be launched automatically at startup, while the application comes with a simple graphical interface. This tool can process a list of files and generate thumbnails for any of the videos contained in the list.
Using Movie Thumbnailer is easy: simply browse the locations where the videos are located and choose the movies you want to process. The application will then perform a quick scan that is available for videos and thumbnails are generated in batch. The program will, however, need a moment to process all the videos. You will then be able to open the generated thumbnails to check the quality and the size of the images. To avoid cluttering your desktop with extra thumbnails, you can select the number of thumbnails per shot and configure a unique sound effect for each one.
Optional options can be set to adjust the image quality and aspect ratio, and to overlays images with text.
The program comes with a simple user interface: it displays a tool bar at the bottom of the window that allows you to browse for the locations of videos and movies. This tool displays a list of the files and folders that you can choose to process. You can also add location and file information such as the file name, the directory and the path on disk.

Movie Thumbnailer Generator (mtn) supports batch processing of video files and also makes it possible to create thumbnails from video files that are not open with another program.
To create an all-in-one script to generate images in batch from your video files, you can download the standalone install version.
To generate a thumbnail of a video file using Movie Thumbnailer, you just have to start the executable and a configuration file should be started. The configuration file’s name is “*.txt”.
For Windows 8, the executable file is “mthumb-4.4.exe”. This file is located on the executable folder of the software, which is in the folder extracted on the desktop or under:
Path of the executable: C:UsersUsernameDesktopMovie Thumbnailer Generator (mtn)
Path of the configuration file: C:UsersUsernameDesktopMovie Thumbnailer Generator (mtn)*.txt
The configuration file is like a preset that contains the same parameters of the executable file, but the parameters are organised in a numbered list of fields for each item that can be changed.
All the parameters will be explained later, but they are available from the configuration file.
Line 1: Image name (with double quotes, which are the exception to keep the name, but they are to be removed)
Line 2:.jpg or.png extension (that are, in fact, two types of files and the result is as in the name of the extension)
Line 3: 0 means the aspect ratio of the image will be the same as the one of the image, 1 means “fill” the selected image with the image, and 2 means “crop” it to fill the selection. An important note: if line 2 is set to 0, lines 4 and 5 have to be set too. See that the selected image is cropped, the aspect ratio will be maintained!
Line 4: Height of the thumbnail in pixels.
Line 5: Width of the thumbnail in pixels.
Line 6: Color of the thumbnail image.
Line 7: Width of the background of the thumbnail, pixels.
Line 8: Volume of the video when the thumbnail is displayed.
Line 9: Height of the video when the thumbnail is displayed.
Line 10: With this option, you can add text to your thumbnail
Line 11: Text color
