To begin, you will need to make sure that the IPEnum.exe is located in your path and make sure that you have the correct privileges to run it.
Next, you will need to enter the system administrator credentials if needed or download the utility and run it under a powerful user account. Thereafter, you will specify the parameters that you want to view.
Finally, you will see the adapters listed according to their respective roles on the system and you can choose which ones you like. The results should be in the form of an XML file in your C: drive.
To get the results, you will be prompted to create an XML file.
If you have Win7 or below, you will need to run the executable manually or go the PowerShell way.

As seen in the screens below, your utility can be run from the Command Line or using the PowerShell, so if you have Windows 7 or below you can use IPEnum to get the details, but in Windows 10, you can just use PowerShell to get the results.

Now, let’s get some useful information about our adapter connections using IPEnum, which can be used to find the ADapters and their characteristics like speed, transmit and receive rates etc. Also, you can find out if a particular adapter is working or not.
Note: Make sure that you supply a valid and working IP address. In case you don’t have a valid IP address, you will not be able to run the tool.
To run the tool, go to the Command Prompt by pressing the WIN+X buttons and going to the Run menu and type the following command:

The Remote desktop client tries to use the same mechanism to connect to another machine. The problem is that, when you set the properties in “Remote Desktop Connection Settings” to those of the remote desktop client, it makes the user be able to remotely control the other machine, even though it’s not the case in the OS.
