Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix (2007) [eng Subs] 100
harry and dumbledore agree to become partners in defense against the dark lord voldemort (ralph fiennes). i find it interesting that dumbledore is so much younger than the other wizards. that’s what happens when you come from a different world; you stay young.
the next film in the harry potter movie series opens the book series up in the outside world, introducing us to a new wizarding world. this time around, harry potter has been selected to represent his school in a tournament, where he will compete against the other schools for the chance to win a whole new world of magical wonders. but as the movie begins, he discovers that the tournament isn’t as innocent as it seems. he must now take on a new mentor in the form of albus dumbledore, and, to his dismay, he learns that his old friends have been kidnapped by the dementors, a magical force who take the souls of those who die.
the third harry potter movie (and the only one in the series not written by j.k. rowling) is often called the best in the series for its dark tone and strong characters, and its fittingly named dark arts teacher, dolores umbridge. the movie takes a harder look at the world of harry potter and introduces some new characters, like rita skeeter (played by sex and the city alum, chris o’donnell), who is first introduced in harry potter and the goblet of fire as a columnist for a tabloid. umbridge is portrayed by sex and the city star, kelly bishop.
the fourth harry potter movie delves even further into the world of the harry potter books, showing the events that happen when harry is sent to find his uncle vernon (the father of harry’s best friend hermione). the film shows how harry came to be a wizard, and how his quest to find his uncle vernon goes from a simple search to a full-on war with voldemort (portrayed by lord of the rings star, ian mckellen).
like the previous movie, this one introduces a bunch of new characters. among them are the new members of the order of the phoenix: nymphadora tonks (alyssa sutherland), seraphina picquery (salazar mazzini), lavender brown (carmen ejogo), and kingsley shacklebolt (michael gambon). there are also new friends and enemies: dolores umbridge (ioan gruffudd), professor trelawney (emma thompson), and voldermort (tom felton).
quidditch is back! and with it comes all the magic, muggle rules, and flying of the harry potter franchise. if you thought the weasley children were bad, you will be flabbergasted by the quidditch world of these kids. remember when the black and white butterbeer was the best drink? oh, man, that stuff was so good. i imagine the same is true for this new drink of luna’s, which is a so much better version of the traditional drink.
ginny weasley (bonnie wright) returns. i love her. i wish she always was in every movie. she is a great character who is a likeable and sweet girl. i am so glad that she got a happy ending. it’s about time that harry and ginny had their happy ending. harry potter fans are a funny bunch, and they love harry potter movies because they have become so much more than a love story. this movie introduced us to harrys real friends, ron and hermione. they have wonderful characters, and i can’t wait to see them again in harry potter and the deathly hallows: part 1.
harry meets his future love, lily potter (natalie portman). portman plays her character like a goddess and it is a pleasure to see her play. the actress does such a great job at playing a character that is so far from her real life. while harry is looking for a new defense, the potters live a normal life with harrys parents, sirius (gary oldman) and his wife, remus (james mcavoy). sirius and remus are great characters and it is great to see them have a happy ending. i also like how the story deals with ginny’s parents. their relationship, including sirius’ relationship with remus, is very complex and open. we learn more about it in this movie, and i love it. also, i love it when adult characters act like kids. i want a movie where a grown-up woman kisses a boy on the cheek. it happens in real life too: just look at jane eyre and wuthering heights.
